Can you sing?

Have you ever sung in a group, a choir or a band? Describe it.
No. :-D Short and simple.
In grade school (I estimate 6th grade), I was in the band for less than a school year. Hated every minute and scurried back to my piano. I don't think I liked being one of dozens when it came to music. Somewhere around the same time I joined what was called the 'choral group' amd quit that after we gave our concert. I didn't like having to sing 'parts' or 'harmony' or whatever it was I was assigned to do. I wanted to just sing plain old songs the way I wanted to, with the real melody. When it comes to music, I'm not a good team player.
The one musical group effort I did
enjoy was during college when our dorm would sponsor 'coffeehouses' in the snack bar. Those were evenings when anyone who wanted to could show up and sing or play guitar or piano or whatever. I sang sometimes with two guys that were in my group of friends. Now that
was fun. I remember singing Neil Diamond and Gordon Lightfoot, although I'm sure there were others. Ah, the seventies!
Gordon Lightfoot...now I haven't thought about his songs for a long long time...
I started choir in Junior High. I was decent. I have a broad range - the director would place me in the first soprano, second soprano, or alto section depending on what she needed most at the time. A couple of times I even sang tenor because we had very few boys.
We went to state competitions every year at Worlds of Fun. That was my favorite part. I didn't give a rat's scaly tail if we won or lost - although we always placed well. Just show me the rollercoaster!
The most awful part of it was the time the director decided to expand our repoirtoire. Ave Maria sung with a Hillbilly accent is atrocious! I helped her coach the other choir members on how to pronounce the Latin, but she never
tried anything like that again! I'm just thankful she didn't try to teach us anything in French!
