Wow. I just don't remember. I think I asked them a long time ago when I was little. I guess I'll have to give them a call and get back to this question later. :-D

I only know how they met lol!
Umm.......my mum worked in a shop that sold wool for knitting and stuff, she was up a ladder when my dad came in and he had to stop himself from dribbling apparently. They were 16 years old. My mum was like the catch of the area and she was already going out with some hottie named 'Gary'. My dad was a bit of a spotty teenager who thought he was cool with his little moped, beer and cigarettes, he had a party, my mum went with this 'Gary' person, and yeah, they just ended up going out together. No idea how or why. I can't really imagine him charming my mum with his wits. And even my mum said he wasn't hot at all so who knows! Lol!

My mum was working in a Chinese restaurant halfway between Canberra and Sydney, and the brother of one of the girls she worked with was coming down to retrieve his sister for university term. He brought a friend. My mother says that my dad came into the restaurant and paused in the doorway to look for his friend. He had his motorbike helmet under one arm and a leather jacked on. It was early afternoon, and the light behind him was golden. She says, she just knew he was the one, and told another friend of hers working at the restaurant, "this one's mine".

It took my dad nine months to decide he really wanted to go out with an ang mo. And another six years to think he might want to marry her. In the end, my mother trapped him in the library while he was trying to finish his final project for the end of his unversity degree and told him "we're getting married in Melbourne on the 23rd of March next year." It was pretty much a "be there, or be square" situation, and yes - that was their proposal story too.
